How to get to Aspen from Denver
Plan your Aspen trip around your arrival airport, season, group size and luggage. From Denver International Airport (DEN), Aspen Snowmass lists the year-round road route via I-70 and Colorado Highway 82 through Glenwood Springs at about 220 miles. Driving time varies with traffic, weather and road conditions; a fixed three-hour arrival should not be assumed.
Check the route before departure
Aspen Snowmass’s driving directions show that Highway 82 over Independence Pass opens seasonally and closes in winter, generally from late October through May. When the pass is closed, use the Glenwood Springs approach. Even when it is open, the best route depends on current conditions. Check CDOT’s I-70 travel information and COtrip before you leave.
Compare your ground transportation options
Scheduled shuttles, rental cars and private transfers serve different needs. Compare pickup location, baggage rules, transfers, total price and cancellation terms.
