TUBING

Tubing, which appeared in the arsenal of active winter recreation relatively recently, is now rapidly developing and conquering the slopes of parks and ski centers.

This entertaining activity originated in the United States, presumably in the 1820s, although then the shape of the tuba was different from today. Most likely, the Americans rode down the hills on toboggans – Eskimo sleighs.

There are two types of tubing – summer and winter:

  • Winter tubing – downhill from snow or ice slides with a slope of no more than 20 degrees.
  • Summer tubing – towing behind a boat or rafting.

Where to ride?

It is recommended to ride on specially cleared or equipped slopes. In addition to ordinary slides that appear naturally, they create special slopes for tubing. They are usually built in parks and ski resorts and are a gutter. On such slopes there is a tubing lift. Prepared tubing tracks are very comfortable and safe. They are sometimes equipped with special springboards – this makes skiing more fun and more extreme. There are tracks with a perfectly flat surface, which are recommended for the youngest visitors to ride.

  1. Copper Mountain

Copper Mountain in winter becomes a gathering place for outdoor enthusiasts. Adults and children should not miss the opportunity to enjoy all the delights of the cold season and slide down the slides. This mountain is notable for the presence of several slopes of different steepness. Here both kids and adult fans will be able to frolic with the breeze. However, the slopes of the mountain is on the sunny side, so there is often a shortage of snow here.

  1. Echo Mountain

Echo Mountain Tubing Hill is a good area to have fun seven days a week and is less than an hour from Denver. The tube mountain is only accessible to people who are 36 inches or higher; lap riding is not permitted here. Bookings must be made online.

  1. Keystone Resort

The winter season at Keystone is no less good for an active family holiday than the summer one. Thanks to affordable prices and the possibility of spending leisure time for every taste, many families with children have already fallen in love with this picturesque place. With the advent of not a calendar, but a real winter with snowfalls and frosts, an ice rink and snow tracks for skiing, snowboarding and tubing open on the territory of the complex. Please note: these services are only available during the snowy season! If you are going specifically for these entertainments, call the administration before the trip.

  1. Winter Park

Mountain Resort Winter Park provides its guests with an unforgettable and truly fabulous vacation! Everyone who has ever been here in the winter comes back again with friends or families. Real winter adventures are waiting for you at the Winter Park! Snow-covered slopes, amazing nature, ringing mountain air and, of course, a lot of updated ski slopes of any difficulty level – there is plenty to choose from for beginners and experienced skiers!

For those who want to feel the feeling of flying, but do not risk skiing, there is snow tubing. Rolling down the hill on a balloon, you can enjoy the stunning scenery and feel the invigorating breeze! The joy of skiing and happy smiles were seen not only in children, parents also do not miss the chance to enjoy the descent from the snow slides! All riders must be taller than 36”.

  1. Snowmass

Many Colorado residents, and not only them, know about Snowmass. This famous resort was chosen by Europeans and Americans who love skiing and snowboarding and no less adore quality service. The ski town meets European requirements, including price – the prices here are about the same as in the French Alps. The tracks are also frankly good – there are tracks for beginner snowboarders and skiers, as well as for experienced extreme sportsmen.

In the vicinity of the Rocky Mountains, there is another high-mountain resort – Snowmass. In the forest zone there is a “black track”, which attracts experienced skiers. Snowmass tracks are suitable not only for professionals, there are also easier ones for beginners. Those who are not interested in either skiing or snowboarding can try tubing with their children on a specially equipped slope or race on snowmobiles with the breeze.

  1. Purgatory

This ski resort is suitable for those who have long dreamt of a ski slope, but have never learned to stand either on skis or on a snowboard. Or for those who came with snowboarders for company, but do not know what to do with themselves while they ride. There are multiple exhilarating lanes to race down on the Snow Coaster Tubing Hill. In the winter, it typically runs every day until early evening.

  1. Hesperus Ski Area

Hesperus, which is located not far from the center of Durango, is the tiniest resort town on my list at the moment. The Marmot Hill region is located on the western slope of Hesperus’ lower mountain
